Senior Stories 2017: “Steppin’ Out in Niagara” was created by:

Monica Dufault (Director and Co-creator) – Monica has worked as an actor, playwright and director at large companies and small across Canada. She has directed twelve productions for ECT, and this is her fourth season as Artistic Director of Essential Collective Theatre. Monica also teaches Acting and Scriptwriting in the Department of Dramatic Arts at Brock University. She is delighted to see ECT’s Senior Stories program continue to flourish, and has enjoyed working with this year’s talented company very much.

Tenja Hagenberg (Music Director / Choreographer) – Tenja is thrilled to be a part of Essential Collective Theatre’s Senior Stories! This is her first credit as a Music Director and Choreographer; her featured past credits include a Guest Entertainer and lead vocalist for Princess Cruises, Charlottetown Festival, Bluewater Playhouse, Theatre Aquarius and an honours graduate of Sheridan College’s music Theatre program. Tenja is very excited to be part of ECT’s 2017/2018 season with her solo show ‘Around The World and Home Again’ at the PAC next April 2018 under the direction of Monica Dufault.

Roberta Doylend (Designer) – An award winning costume designer, Roberta Doylend has designed and built costumes for stage, opera and film from coast to coast, inside a federal penitentiary, and internationally. After many years on Vancouver Island, she relocated to Niagara to join the production team for the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, now in their new building in downtown St Catharines. After over 25 years as an independent designer, she truly enjoys teaching the next generation of theatre technicians.

Genevieve Bain (Stage Manager and Co-Creator) – Genevieve is a graduate from the Brock BA Drama/BEd program, and is thrilled to be a part of Senior Stories. Previous shows with ECT as Assistant Stage Manager / Stage Manager include: The Fighting Days, L’Lapse and POOR. Genevieve is working on a Stage Management apprenticeship with Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.

Nicola Franco (Performer and Co-Creator) – Nicola Franco is a graduate of the Brock Dramatic Arts program with a concentration in performance. She is thrilled to be a part of this experience that allows her to have meaningful connections with seniors in the local area. She plans to continue working collectively in the theatre community and looks forward to keeping in touch with the seniors involved in this year’s project.

Adam Daniel Koren (Performer and Co-Creator) – Adam Daniel Koren, a Montreal native, is going into his 2nd year at Sheridan College in Music Theatre performance. He has been performing since the age of 6 in both amateur and professional productions. He is extremely grateful to be a part of thjs talented group of people working on such a meaningful project.

Rachel Moore (Performer and Co-Creator) – Rachel is a Toronto based actress, comedian and aspiring playwright. She is currently about to enter her final year of Classical Theatre training at George Brown College. She has also received training at Sheridan College, Humber College, Bad Dog Improv Theatre and LB Acting Studio. She has thoroughly enjoyed working with ECT and the awesome senior community of St. Catharines!

Elizabeth Pereira (Performer and Co-Creator) – Elizabeth Pereira is from Oakville, Ontario and is a recent English and Dramatic Arts graduate of Brock University. This September she will be pursuing her Master’s in English as well as working with Chorus Niagara as a Choral Scholar. She is grateful for this opportunity to connect with seniors and collaborate on such a fun show!
