Senior Stories 2019

Essential Collective Theatre is now accepting applications for the following five (5) positions:

ECT Senior Stories Performer/Creator (4 positions available)

Job Description: The Performers/Creators will interview senior citizens from around the Niagara region and gather stories about the seniors’ lives. They will collaborate with the Director to create and rehearse an original one-act play based on the gathered stories. The Performers/Creators will tour this performance to long-term care facilities, seniors’ centres, libraries, museums and other community venues.

Experience/Qualifications Required: Successful candidates should be currently enrolled in a post-secondary drama program, or recently graduated (first 5 years) from a post-secondary drama program, with experience in live performance. Previous work and or lived experience with seniors, ability to sing, dance and/or play a musical instrument are assets.

ECT Senior Stories Stage Manager (1 position available):

Job Description: The Stage Manager will work with the Program Manager to schedule seniors’ centres and long-term care facilities to set up interviews with seniors and to schedule performances at various venues. The Stage Manager will monitor senior & performer interviews, and will attend and report on all rehearsals. The Stage Manager will work with the Director and Program Manager to establish the tour schedule, call times, company protocols and daily responsibilities. The Stage Manager will be responsible for setting up and running sound for the performances, and carrying out the regular duties of a stage manager in performances.

Qualifications/Experience: Successful candidates should be currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, or recently graduated (first 5 years) from a post-secondary program, with experience in stage management and sound operation. They should be empathetic, detail oriented, with strong social and communication skills. Ontario Driver’s licence required.
