Letter to Carol Bolt.
Stephanie read the play on the suggestion of a friend who had seen the original Tarragon Production. She loved it and thought the piece would be a perfect fit for our company but had concerns about the it seeming dated to modern audiences. She wrote to Carol with the suggestion that they (Carol, Stephanie & Jason) get together and discuss the possibility of a modern reworking. Carol agreed and soon after the trio workshopped the play over a two week period. "One Night Stand (Una Aventura)" was born!
The Company co-produced the play with the Belfry Theatre in Victoria BC and then brought the production to the Theatre Passe Muraille Back-space in Toronto. The show then came to St. Catharines Vagabond space and eventually traveled to the UK for a three week run at the White Bear theatre. Carol never got to see the fruits of her hard work, she became ill during the rehearsals of the show in Victoria and had to fly home - she passed away November 28/2000. Carol was a pioneer of the Toronto theatre scene in the early 70's and a founding member of Playwright's Union of Canada. She had a love of theatre and those who produced it, we were lucky to have worked with her and will treasure the experience always.
